Field Day

Today we had field day with the whole class. My teacher and the class had a lot of fun. We play a lot of games. We went up against Ms. Macom's class. We cheered really loud. My favorite game was the hurdles. It was challenging and very fun. I liked how the music was blaring. I would also like to give a thanks to the volunteers, I could never of have as much fun as I did today.

TAKS TEKS Check

So today Mrs. Jackson told the class that we were having a Math TAKS check today. I freaked out but I think I did good. So then after a little while it was time to go to lunch and I wasn't nervous anymore. After that when Mrs. Jackson came in the lunch room to get us she said who ever has to finish the TAKS checks go back to the room. So I went back to the room and started. I wasn't as nervous - I was just a little. After that I finished at 1:20pm right when everyone came in. I felt so dumb that I didn't get to go outside.

The War

By Jacob K.

Last week in Social Studies we finished the Revolutionary War. The whole class enjoyed learning about it. And the Revolutionary War was Texas vs. Mexicans for Texas freedom.

Snow

White falling powder
Surrounding me all around
Frigid cold holding me
In a winter wonderland spell.

Frost dotting my nose and lashes
Covering the ground like a blanket,
Pillowy softness building up
Making not a sound.

Wasn't it amazing to see all that snow? What can you write about snow?

2010...

A new year has begun, which means it is time to evaluate and set goals. Reflect back on your work habits during the fall semester of 2009. Which things did you do well? What things can you continue to work on? As we progress through the spring semester of 2010, think of your strengths, and use them to work on your weaknesses. Each of us can always improve upon ourselves. I hope that you take the time to evaluate, learn, and progress!!!! Happy 2010!

Fall

The cool weather is here!!! I am sure it will be gone just as quickly as it arrived. I absolutely love the fall weather! Write up a description of fall and what it means to you. Bring it to me. The first person to do so will get a special blog posting! Here's mine:

Falling leaves,
Orange, red, and yellow
Chilling winds,
Blowing through my hair
Crisp air,
Wakens me each morning
Warm sweaters,
Hot soup and rolls...

Science

The Jackson Jaws have been working on science lately. And we've been studying matter and its different forms-solid, liquid, and gas. We've been studying how matter can change forms. And how everything is made up of matter. And the difference between volume and mass.

We the People of . . .

THE JACKSON JAWS are ready for a great 4th grade year!!! Our year is well underway with active learning already taking place. I am excited about the many great opportunities the children have in store for them this year! I look forward to watching them excel academically and emotionally.

One thing that we can all look forward to is . . . (drumroll please) . . .our inaugural trip to Austin in May!!! That's right! Our fourth grade field trip will be to visit the state capitol of Austin. I've already heard a few postive whisperings from the children. An information sheet is being sent home on Tuesday. Be on the watch out for more news about this exciting adventure! Here is a link of just one of the places we will see.

What's all the hub-bub about the Bob Bullock Museum?

Stay tuned for important news each week from this six week's reporters: Chandlor and Adam! We may even have a few guest reporters along the way!
